Questions-Answers with Tsulav
1. How was your journey in the path of Magic?
When I chose this art as my profession there were lots of things that i had to accept as it was. I seek for help with almost everybody. But, nobody supported me.
It was a test that my god had set for me to make me strong or may be to check my determination.
I started knowing my people. People who were supposed to be mine were not bothered about me.
I made a deal with my Uncle(cousin of my Dad) who was residing in USA. I asked him to pay for my courses from his country and I would deposit the cost in his Nepali bank account.
I understood it was not going to be easy for me. But what I believe is “Either don’t start anything or if you begin, do it with the best of your ability”.
I had already started and there was no turn back.
Then, after that a time arrived when I was almost broke.
I was already deep into this art and I had no money left. It was just 5 years back.
My college fee, expenses on things I needed and everything else cost me everything I had. There was a day when I couldn’t afford getting a deck of card for practicing.
But, there was always this one person at those torrid moments of my life without whom I wouldn’t have been here where I am today. My girl, who supported me at those moments. Even paid for my cards. (getting emotional)
I feel quite weird when I turn those chapters of my life. It was the most difficult and most amazing period of my life.
2. What were the other hardships you faced?
Many things were pushing me back. Nepalese people don’t take magic as art but they get scared of it.
Even my family used to say that they are ashamed of me. But, even that could not push me back because I was so determined on this.
There are many misconceptions in Nepal. They used to tell that nobody should come near me. Even people used to call me #boksha #chatake.
All I knew was trick but I did not know how to approach people and how to show magic. Yet, I used to show some tricks to friends. Then, one day one of my acquaintances asked me to perform in a School. It was my first show and I did it for Nrs.1500.
After that, I got courage and belief that I can do it. And currently, I am the most expensive magician of Nepal.
3. What was the motivational factor for you?
The reaction on people’s face while they are watching my show always motivates me.
What I believe is ‘When you give 100%, you will get 100%’.
4. How passionate are you about your dream?
I have been learning and doing magic since 10 years.
In the field of Magic, if you want to do old trick, it’s easy. You will not be creative by doing things which have been already created by others. You should make your own way.
It took me two years to develop my own magic. And that magic is one of the most sold magic in the world.
For those two years, I was so much into it that I did not go out of my house. I had no communication with anyone, not even with my family. I did not sleep for many days. Only thing in my mind was to make it better, make it world class.
I think you should have madness to be successful.
Even now, I practice 8 hours everyday and when I am deep into it, I practice 21 hours a day.
If someone had told me to study or do something else, maybe I could not be able to do that. But, Magic touched my deep heart. So, I had to do it. If I had not done that, it would have been hard for me to come to this level.
5. What are the similarities between Magician and widely known #Tantric #Baba’s #Mata’s seen in our society?
I would call it a Fake psychic business which has different categories.
Even, I can do same magic tricks like Saibaba and many other renowned Baba’s.
There are many so called Baba’s in our society whose business is to fake people with tricks.
I also have tried to debunk many fake psychics or so called Baba’s (name censored) who are very renowned in our country. They do some magic tricks like walking in coal which is actually 500 years old magic trick.
I actually don’t have problem with fake psychic or so called renowned Baba’s but because of them I am having a problem.
Not only me but magicians after my generation will be in problem too. That’s why I want to expose them.
If they show those tricks as an art I don’t have a problem with it. But, they are making people fool, lying and cheating people to earn money. That’s why I have problem with them.
6. Did you ever think of doing fake psychic business like those people?
There are so many advantages of being magician.
Even only as a hypnotist, I can do anything. I claim that I can do anything. I can make you dance right now.
Even some of my earlier class mates from different countries are professional thieves. But, I did not choose that side because my purpose is entertainment. I am an entertainer.
If I want I can do that but I won’t achieve what I want. Only if I had to earn money, I would not be magician. I would be running my Dad’s Business.
I was an Artist. I am an Artist. Be it music or Magic, what I love is Art not faking people.
7. Now days, it is a trend to go abroad. Don’t you ever feel like going abroad?
There are tons of Magicians outside who are far better than me. It will be tough for me.
Honestly speaking, there is no competition in Nepal. I am doing solo rule here.
And here, I need to change concept of Nepalese people about Magic too.
I am now creating a project to debunk fake psychic or Baba’s of Nepal. Even I don’t need to go and say this Baba is fake. I can actually do the same trick in the street. Simply this way, it can change.
But, honestly for that, there is no support and it is difficult. I think I have aware at least 500 people till date.
8. Why you were away from limelight?
Either don’t start anything or do it with best of your ability. My intention is to bring one show which will be super hit. For that, I have to maintain my standard like internationally renowned magician. I am preparing for it. Time will come.
9. What other things you are busy with?
I have been freelancing show in different events. I have small clothing store business. I am also preparing for DVD tutorial and making videos with easy magic trick so that anyone can learn some easy magic trick.
10. What are your Future Plans?
Future is very unpredictable. When I will grow old, I wish to create at least ten magician in Nepal who can bring out magic as an art, who are true artist and can change the misconception of people in Nepal.
But, I even don’t know if I will be alive till that time. I live in present and I believe that I have only one day. We should be alive now.
11. What is your message to younger generation?
You should be determined to be successful. There should be self support.
Blaming family, situation or others should be stopped. You should support yourself.
Be determined and move forward. Then, success will automatically come to you.
12. Lastly, What is your Life Mantra?
KEEP IT SIMPLE.
